The Ijebu WordPress Meetup group (Ijebu Ode) Celebrates WordPress at 15
It was On May 27, 2003, that software developer Matt Mullenweg launched the first version of a computer programme which went on to revolutionised publishing, especially online publishing.
Fifteen years later, WordPress is the engine behind 30% of the world’s websites, powering major media and e-commerce sites, as well as small blogs – the personal projects that inspired its creation.
Yesterday, Sunday, May 27, 2018, saw WordPress enthusiasts in the Ijebu axis of Ogun, state, Nigeria commemorate the 15th birthday of the popular website software. WordPress users in and around Ijebu Ode converged at Geo-Bajas Hotel, Ijebu Imusin a suburb of Ijebu Ode to learn, celebrate and have fun.
The hashtag #WP15 was used by participants on the occasion to join other celebrants around the World in live tweets to celebrate the day WordPress was born.

Lectures were given by different speakers on subjects that border on website development in Nigeria using WordPress.
The newly introduced Privacy and Data Protection law, General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, in Europe was also touched on. This part was a little stormy as some believe it will affect Nigeria website owners, while some others believe it will not until Nigeria become a signatory to the law. Details about the GDPR law can be found here.
So, also were other aspects of getting online such as SSL, domain registration and web hosting in Nigeria were briefly discussed among the participants.
There was a game section which saw a lot of the members of the group participated in it.
The participants use their mobile phones to play the game, Kahoot, online. Different members won the game at different times.
